Next up for subscription week I thought we should talk about Ipsy. Similar to Birchbox, Ipsy is a $10 monthly subscription box that comes with 5 beauty samples (sometimes full sized items too!). Ipsy is also super cute because each month comes with a little reusable makeup pouch. The main difference that I have seen between the two is that Birchbox seems to be catered more toward “Beauty” overall – I get a lot more skincare & haircare products from them, whereas Ipsy is typically more makeup.
This month was actually one of my least favorite Ipsy months 😦 (sorry!). It seemed like the samples were just kinda ehh compared to some of the other bags I’ve received lately.
That being said, I do still love Ipsy and I think it is a great deal for $10!
Here’s what I got this month:
LA Fresh Group – Good Night, Night Cream: This product for me was just ok. I don’t like the packaging (glorified foil sample) and it was very greasy on my skin. Overall just not really a huge fan.
Albertini – Devine Skin Hydrator: I like this skin cream, however was kinda bummed that I got two lotions in the same bag. This cream is unscented which can be nice for sensitive skin – but I find the creams that I already have are more nourishing.
Doll 10 Beauty – Hydragel Blush in Flirt: This for me was the best product that I received in my bag. I like cream blushes and I think the color of this is really pretty. It is a soft pink and the formula allows you to sheer it out or build it up depending on your taste. I also like the staying power of this blush and then it applies smoothly.
Noyah – Natural Lipstick: I wanted to like this product because I do think the color is pretty; however the packaging is just killing it for me. This may just be for the specific sample (not sure about the full sized) but the packaging is very cheaply made and when I go to twist up the product it gets stuck 90% of the time so it’s hard to actually get to the product. The formula itself is nice enough, but overall I don’t think this is something I would reach for.
Lord & Berry – Ultimate Lipcolor & Liner in Nude: This is not a bad product; however the color is simply just too brown for me. If anything this would be a nice eyeliner (ha!), but overall idk just another ehh product for me.
This month if I am comparing Birchbox and Ipsy, I think Birchbox is the clear winner. I have had some really great products from Ipsy lately, so I knew there was prob a “dud” month coming. That being said I do think overall Ipsy is a really good value and prob 85% of the time has some of my fave products of the month!
Let me know if you had better luck with your bag this month!
